Privacy Policy
Summary
- PickupRadar helps delivery drivers see and report pickup wait times and venue problems.
- You can browse without creating an account. The app creates an anonymous Radar profile for your phone, and an email account is optional.
- If you allow location, the app uses it while you are using it: to sort nearby pickup points, detect your city and check that you are at a venue when you submit a live report. We do not save your location with your reports.
- Your saved pickup points stay on your phone.
- We do not sell your personal information and the app contains no advertising or analytics trackers.
- You can delete your Radar profile or account in the app, or ask us by email. See Delete your account or data.
Who we are
PickupRadar (“PickupRadar”, “we”, “us”) is run by Hamza Khan, an individual based in the United Kingdom, who is responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal data described in this policy.
Contact: support@pickupradar.com
Business correspondence address: Hamza Khan / PickupRadar, Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FA, United Kingdom
PickupRadar is designed for delivery drivers. This policy covers the PickupRadar app and this website for drivers in the United Kingdom and the United States. It is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any delivery platform. It never asks for your delivery-platform login, password or account details.
Information we collect and how we use it
Device ID and Radar profile. When you first open the app it creates a random device ID, which is stored on your phone. Our server links it to an anonymous Radar profile with an automatically generated Radar name, and gives your phone a random secret code so that requests can be matched to it. We use these to run RadarPoints and your contribution history, to apply reporting limits and to prevent duplicate or abusive reports. The device ID is not your phone’s hardware ID or advertising ID.
Location (only if you allow it). The app uses your location only while you are using it, never in the background, to:
- sort pickup points by distance and show how far away they are;
- work out which city you are in (your phone’s built-in location services turn your coordinates into a place name);
- check that you are within half a mile of a venue when you submit a live wait or status report. The app sends your current coordinates to our server with the report, the server checks the distance, and the coordinates are not saved in our database.
You can turn location off in your phone’s settings. You can still browse, but live reporting needs location.
Reports you submit. When you report a wait, we store the venue, the wait range, whether you left early, whether the order started after you arrived, the delivery app you chose (optional), and when you observed and sent the report. We also store status reports (such as “Closed now” or “Not receiving orders”), driver tags, venue problem reports and any note you add, and missing-venue suggestions (venue name, address, postcode, city, note and a Google place reference). These are linked to your device ID and Radar profile. Other drivers see them only combined into venue information such as the current wait, warnings and estimates, not with your Radar name. Please do not put personal information, customer details or order numbers in notes.
Offline reports. If you are offline when you submit a wait report, the app keeps it on your phone, together with the coordinates needed for the distance check, for up to 15 minutes and sends it when you are back online. If it cannot be sent in that time, it is not sent, and the report and its coordinates are removed from your phone the next time the app checks its queue.
RadarPoints, Radar name and leaderboard. We record the RadarPoints you earn and what they were for. You can change your Radar name. The city leaderboard is off by default; if you turn it on, your Radar name and points are shown to other users on that leaderboard.
Optional email account. If you choose to protect your RadarPoints with your email address, we store your email address and an account ID, and send you one-time sign-in codes by email. There is no password. We use your email to let you sign in, recover your RadarPoints on another phone and take part in referrals. We do not use it for marketing.
Referrals. If you invite another driver or enter a referral code, we store the referral code, which profiles are involved, the invited driver’s device ID and the report that completed the referral, so that we can award RadarPoints. Both drivers need protected (email) accounts.
Messages from PickupRadar. We may show announcements and alerts in the app, and occasionally a message to an individual Radar profile. We record when a message is read or dismissed so that it is not shown again.
City launch alerts. If you ask to be told when PickupRadar launches in a city, we store the email address you enter (it is not verified), the city, country or region, your app language, the date of your request and the wording you agreed to. We use it only to email you about that launch. This is separate from email accounts.
Saved pickup points. Your list of saved pickup points is stored only on your phone. To show their current details, the app may request those venues from our servers, but we do not keep a copy of your saved list.
Sharing. Share cards are created on your phone and sent through your phone’s sharing options to the app you choose. We do not receive a copy.
Settings on your phone. Your language, selected city and other settings are stored on your phone.
Support. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you send, and use it to reply and help you.
Technical data. When the app or this website connects to our servers, our hosting and database providers automatically process technical information such as your IP address, device or browser type and the time of the request, to deliver the service and keep it secure and reliable. We do not use this information to build profiles of you.
This website. The live preview on pickupradar.com loads public venue information from our database in your browser and remembers the city you selected in your browser’s storage. If you allow your browser to share your location, the live preview uses it only inside your browser to sort pickup points and show distances. It is never sent to PickupRadar and the website does not save it. The website does not use cookies or analytics, and you cannot submit reports through it.
What we don’t ask for
We don’t ask for, and don’t intend to collect:
- Delivery-platform logins, passwords or account details
- Customer names, customer addresses, order numbers or other order details
- Your contacts, photos, camera or microphone
- Your advertising ID. The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking software.
If you type details like these into a note, a venue suggestion or a support email, we will receive them, so please leave them out.
Our legal bases (UK)
Under UK data protection law we rely on:
- Legitimate interests: running a useful and reliable pickup-information service for drivers, keeping reports accurate (including using your location, if you have allowed the app to access it, to sort nearby pickup points, detect your city and check that live reports are made at the venue), preventing abuse, running RadarPoints, the leaderboard, referrals and in-app messages, and responding to support requests;
- Providing the service you asked for: your optional email account;
- Consent: city launch alerts. You can withdraw it at any time in the app or by emailing us;
- Legal obligations, where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
Your phone’s location permission controls whether the app can access your location at all. It is a setting you control on your phone and is separate from the legal basis above. Storing your device ID and settings on your phone is necessary for the app to work.
Who we share information with
- Other drivers: combined venue information from reports, and your Radar name and points if you turn on the leaderboard.
- Supabase: our database, sign-in and server functions. Our database is hosted in London, UK, wherever you use PickupRadar.
- Resend: sends sign-in code emails.
- Google: when you search for a venue to suggest, the text you type and, if available, your location (to show nearby results first) are sent through our server to Google Places. We don’t store them in our database; Google handles them under its own privacy terms.
- GitHub: hosts this website and records visitors’ IP addresses for security purposes, under its own privacy statement.
- Apple and Google: provide the app stores and your phone’s location services, under their own privacy policies.
- Authorities or others, if the law requires it or it is needed to protect people’s rights or safety.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use or share it for targeted advertising.
International transfers
Some of our service providers are based in the United States or may process data outside the UK. Supabase and Resend process personal data for us under data processing terms that include the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses together with the UK Addendum issued by the Information Commissioner. Google (for venue searches) and GitHub (for website hosting) handle data under their own privacy terms. Contact us if you would like more information.
If you use PickupRadar in the United States, the information described in this policy is sent to and stored in the United Kingdom, and may also be processed in the United States by the providers above.
How long we keep information
- Radar profile, Radar name, RadarPoints, contribution history, device links, referral records and message read status: until you delete your Radar profile or account.
- Email account: until you delete your account.
- Reports, tags, notes and venue suggestions: kept to provide venue history and statistics. We do not currently delete them after a fixed period. When you delete your profile or account, we replace the device ID on the records linked to your profile with a random value and erase the notes on your problem reports and suggestions. The remaining records are de-identified rather than fully anonymous (they still show the venue and time, for example), and we may keep them for venue history.
- City launch alerts: deleted 30 days after we send the launch email for that city, or 12 months after you signed up if we have not sent it. You can withdraw sooner in the app or by emailing us. Records used to limit repeated sign-ups are deleted after 48 hours.
- Account deletion records: when an email account is deleted, we keep a minimal record (an internal account reference, the device ID, a one-way scrambled copy of the phone’s secret code and dates) so the deletion can be completed safely and shown to have happened. These records do not currently expire automatically.
- Backups: our database provider makes a daily backup of our database and keeps each backup for 7 days. Information that has been deleted or de-identified can stay in these backups for up to 7 days.
- Technical logs: kept by our hosting and database providers for a limited period under their own policies.
- Support emails: for as long as we need them to deal with your request.
- On your phone: settings, saved pickup points and your device ID stay on your phone until you delete the app or clear its data. Deleting the app removes this information from your phone, but it does not delete records on our servers. To do that, delete your profile or account in the app first, or contact us.
Your choices and rights
In the app you can turn location off, keep the leaderboard off, change your Radar name, withdraw city launch alerts and delete your Radar profile or account.
If you are in the United Kingdom
You have the right to ask for access to your personal data, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable format, as well as to withdraw consent. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, but we would appreciate the chance to help first.
If you are in the United States
Depending on the state you live in, privacy laws may give you rights to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, and to ask us to correct or delete it. Whether or not a particular state law applies to PickupRadar, you can make these requests and we will handle them in the same way as requests from the UK.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for targeted (cross-context behavioural) advertising, and we do not use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Because we do none of these, there is nothing to opt out of. The app and this website contain no advertising or tracking software, so a browser privacy signal such as Global Privacy Control does not change how we handle your information.
We will not treat you differently for making a privacy request. If we decline your request, you can reply to our answer and ask us to reconsider it. You can also contact your state’s attorney general.
To make a request, email support@pickupradar.com. We need to check that a request comes from the person the data is about. For email accounts we do this through the email address on the account. Anonymous Radar profiles have no name or email attached. Ownership can only be proven from the phone the profile was created on, so we may not be able to act on a request about an anonymous profile unless it is made from the app. We will respond within the time required by the law that applies to you. In the UK this is normally one month. Where a US state privacy law applies, it is normally 45 days.
Security
We use encrypted connections, restrict access to personal data in our database and use one-time email codes instead of passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
PickupRadar is intended for delivery drivers aged 18 or over. It is not designed for children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, including children under 13. If you believe a child has used PickupRadar, contact us and we will help remove their data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
